Lack of local communities

If there's no local community near me (and I currently don't have the time to organize one, or I absolutely would) - how do I best pitch in?

The first thing is to make a post here, with the city and country! (If you're in the US, join the PauseAI US Discord server, that's where we coordinate!) You'll want to make yourself visible so that others who join in your area can find you. There's a lot you can do without a local group, like helping with projects and operations, donating, lobbying (call and email your political reps), and outreach. Many people start with no local group, and then they create one! Handing out flyers and talking to people is a great way to get started. I started "PauseAI Phoenix" as a concept when I was the only one in my state. Several months later, we have a handful of members and monthly meetups.

Thanks! I've been quite overwhelmed but this is really good info to start with. It's very easy to call and email reps (learning talking points right now as I realized I had Dunning-Krugered my way into thinking I actually knew something... oh well!), it's convincing other people to trust their gut that I'm having trouble with at the moment. Maybe just a little bit more practice
