In Search of Rugged Wool Trousers
Hey y’all. I’m looking for solid rugged fall trousers in 2+ colors (charcoal + brown/olive ideally). Aiming for norwegian minimal + workwear vibe.
I like the Taylor Stitch Carnegie but cant find my size. I’m now looking at the Blue Blue Japan sashiko easy tapered but not sure if they lean too artisan/street for what I want (plus they aren’t wool).
I need mid/high rise, room in thighs (~24”), clean taper, and want to pair w/ henleys, flannels, shawl knits, boots etc.
Thoughts? recs?

for all of those i would check the size charts; the shift towards wider fits even within workwear and scandinavian minimalism mean pants may appear differently then what stuff you'd find on 2010s mfa

Not sure if you're still looking but I own a pair of Blue Blue Sashiko jeans, same fabric as the easy pants.
They're very well made but I wouldn't consider them "rugged", they're surprisingly comfortable in the heat and breath pretty well. They're also more light to mid weight, they're much lighter that my regular raw jeans.
I would strongly recommend Spier&Mackay for the price range you're looking at.
I have four pair of their flannel trousers, I think they're about three years old now. Absolutely love them and would recommend with zero hesitation.

You'll probably have to wait a month or two for their next restock but they're a fantastic value for the money.

Spier and Mackay’s sizing is weird so I’m reluctant to take the plunge on the final sale.
Jeans look fantastic
I agree that it's a bit wonky but I've bought a ton from them over the years, if there's any questions you have about it I might be able to help you out.
I can also measure the flannel pants I have from them if you want more precise dimensions.
