Newly installed Games via Heroic launcher not starting from the gaming mode shortcut. Only viaheroic
I've been using heroic ever since I got the steam deck. I have played games like ghostwire Tokyo, call of the sea and hogwarts legacy from epic games downloaded through heroic for a long time. They could start in gaming mode no problem. And still can work fine from gaming mode. I recently downloaded gravity circuit and monument Valley from epic as well. They won't launch from gaming mode. I have to launch them from heroic every time. I press play on gaming mode they just load for like a split second then go back to the original page displaying the green play button. I updated heroic via discover store. I set the proton prefix to latest GE. I tried both enabling AND disabling steam runtime. Made sure that steam forced compatibility is off. Tried old versions of proton GE. The weird thing is, ghostwire Tokyo and the games i had downloaded months ago still start fine from gaming mode. Its only the newly installed games that are causing problems. I compared the heroic settings between the games that are able to start from gaming mode vs those that can't. All of their settings are exactly the same. I tried discussing this with the clanker brotherhood (chat gpt and gemini) and they told me some crazy stuff like a new heroic patch not saving the wine prefixes or the games themselves in their correct path, and that i have to go into desktop mode and fix the path for EVERY SINGLE GAME I DOWNLOAD from now on??? I'm sure there's something wrong and I want to believe that there's an easier solution or something ive overlooked and that the clankers are just clankering

Did you add Heroic itself to Steam or adding games to Heroic via using Heroic's add to Steam functionality?

I mean I did both. I have heroic as a non steam game. But yeah I also have heroic'heroic's add to steam function turned on. The shortcuts show up in gaming mode as non steam games.
automatically I mean. Without me having to add them as non steam games

Heroic itself added to Steam way is tend to be problematic.

Install Heroic via Discover store, dont add Heroic itself to Steam.
Add games from Heroic to Steam using Add to Steam feature of heroic.

ok so 1. I ran the flatpak update through konsol. Just had to update Microsoft edge. Updated that.
2. I turned on verbose logs. Tried to run the game from gaming mode. Same issue. Went back to look at verbose logs. Nothing at all
its 9.30pm currently
the last log is like 2 40 am last night I guess
btw I JUST tried to run the game and reciprocated the issue
also this isn't just a problem with gravity circuit this is also a problem with monument Valley. Both games which I downloaded recently. The games that work fine were downloaded many months ago
3. Made sure steam runtime is closed. Still same issue
so what youre telling me to do now is just remove heroic as a non steam game, so its not in gaming mode anymore. And the games should work then?

deleted heroic as a non steam app. Restarted ssteam Deck. Still dame issue when games are started from gaming mode
ok i just discovered something
remember how I said some games work fine from gaming mode and some dont?
and that I checked all the heroic launcher settings for both types of games and that they were the same?
so I thought it must have something to do with the launching location
so I went into the steam settings themselves. And looked at the launch location format
and I found the discrepancy

if it's not generating a log from game mode, there may be something else in the configs. provide a log from running it in desktop mode
