Restoring an old wallet
Hey there, i created an ergo node so i could mine to it in 2020. Now i wanted to resume that node, but i couldnt remeber my hash key. So i made a new one and restored my wallet with my 15 word thing. Then i let the node fully sync, but my old adress and my funds are not there anymore. What did i do wrong?
Running version 4.0.42 right now, cant remember what i was running back in 2020, but still know the adress where my ergo is stored.

did you use a mnemonic pass back then? it needs to be the same to get the same address
Yes i did, and i still got that. I used those 15 words and it said wallet restored successfuly, but it is not the right adress that the wallet has
Is there a way to use swagger UI to do that? Like add the old wallet adress back in again?
hmm, maybe it used the old derivation path
@MrStahlfelge didnt the node use a different derivation path in the beginning?
yes it might be a pre-eip4 address
Can u tell if i post the adress?
no, but if you are 100% sure you did not mistyped and wallet app gives you another address, then it will be the case given that you created the address two years ago
When was the eip4? Because it was late 2020 maybe early 2021 that i created the wallet
One more question when i restore the wallet with my 15 words, how do i type them in? I did it the last time with spaces in between. And does capital letters matter?
depends on the wallet, can only speak about ergo wallet app. capital letters matter, everything should be lower case - but the app will warn you if you do otherwise. you need spaces between the words.
well its a node and i did it like you said with spaces and upper and lower case letters
Third time was the charme for me. Did the exact same thing as last 2 times and it gave me the right wallet this time. Thank you very much for bothering with me!
