H265 transcoding
Hello
Is it possible for immich to transcode H265 video? I can play H265 video's in browsers that support it like microsoft edge and on my phone, but in firefox they don't work.
Is H265 transcoding currently a feature in immich (if so: how can I enable it) or is it planned for the future?
Thanks in advance.

Immich already transcode H265 from the default setting I believe
Yeah thats what I read online, however when looking at the file in the browser console it seems the regular H265 version is being sent to my firefox (non h265 compatible) client
I don't see any error logs that could help me identify this issue
Which version of the server are you using?
1.71.0
I already tried rerunning all server jobs
Is there a file you can share for troubleshooting?
I'll look for one, sec
thanks for helping me btw!
first link is the original file, second one is the file thats sent to both the H265 compatible browser (edge) and non H265 compatible browser (firefox)
What is your transcode policy set to? Immich does not transcode on demand.
This is a known issue (https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/3087). Transcoded videos currently keep the same bit-depth, but Firefox can't handle 10-bit videos even if they're H.264. There's an open PR that should fix this
