been running a MP server the past few days, when one of the players reported their sound just suddenly and seemingly randomly cutting out entirely, only being fixed by fully shutting off the game and rebooting it. after he told me about it, it started to happen to me, too. and unfortunately, I'm the host, so having to shut the game off every time it happens is a problem. while it's less of an issue if I'm using a dedicated server, sometimes that's not a solution (we're playing with calamity, which, for some reason, has some bugs regarding using dedicated servers, so we're forced to not use it for some stuff and forced to use it for other stuff)
when the sound cuts out, the music keeps playing, but all footsteps, gunshots, hurt sounds, etc all shut off. if I then quit the game and go to the main menu, the music shuts off, too. only fix is to fully close the game and relaunch it.
while this could be a mod issue, the existence of the sound megathread over on the github leads me to believe it might be a tmodloader issue instead. it also might not be a MP-only bug. I can note that I did not have this issue until 1.4.4, though.
looking at the client.log, I found one line that looks relevant:
[01:30:58.387] [Main Thread/WARN] [tML]: Failed to get legacy sound style for (68, 1) input.
[01:30:58.387] [Main Thread/WARN] [tML]: Failed to get legacy sound style for (68, 1) input.
unfortunately I booted the game after finding this line and closed before encountering the issue again (the MP session ended) so my logs refreshed. the only log I have available right now is the client.log. I'll be sure to edit this with the other logs the next time I encounter this issue. turns out this is unrelated. looking at other logs, there's nothing at the relevant timestamps
