Month worth of progress loss when manually porting world data from 1.4.3 to 1.4.4.

Lost approximately a month's worth of progression in every single world after manually transferring all world files from a 1.4.3 version of tmodloader to 1.4.4. Character data and map data had no problems and were saved up to date.🆘

Tag: backups (Owner: jopojelly#0000) If your world or player is failing to load, you can use the backups to roll back to an earlier working file. See https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/wiki/Basic-tModLoader-Usage-Guide#world-and-player-backups for more information.

Nothing to do with my issue.

you need to elaborate a bit then, when exactly did you "lose your progression", are you using cloud, are you using onedrive, what files did you manually transfer exactly? Any screenshots?

just to clarify they were ported from an open source client that used tmodporter, not the steam one but i dont think that should've caused any issues and switching back to 1.4.3 legacy on steam should revert these problems but thats why im asking

tmodporter?

noble-goldOP•3y ago

I do, but what does it have to do with your worlds
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
you told me to elaborate probably has nothing to do with it but better to be safe than sorry
Putan
Putan•3y ago
it shouldn't have anything to do with it

Putan•3y ago
how did you make sure you were copying the right files?
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
right files? they were the only ones i had the data wasnt stored anywhere else i triple checked i had a GOG folder with terraria and tmod but i checked and they contained absolutely nothing related to world data and all my player stuff was up to date so im pretty sure i copied the right things
Putan
Putan•3y ago
and that loss of progression happened the moment you pasted the files and then launched steam tml?
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
yup
Putan
Putan•3y ago

yea thats the right folder and all your worlds, when copying, had exactly 4 files each? (sometimes 5 with bak2)?
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
yes i took all files, copied them to a separate folder, uninstalled open source tmod, installed steam tmod, and pasted all files from my backups back into the steam version folders

currently porting everything back to 1.4.3 to see if it resolves it no unfortunately does the date the world file was modified matter because i'd expect it would be modified whenever i save and quit a world but it's a month behind unless that's not how it works

idk, what you did is all correct do you have the logs from the first time you launched tml steam?

Tag: logs (Owner: mirsario#0000) Post your context-dependent .log file(s) from the following 1.4 Alpha directory: For startup issues - Install Directory/tModLoader-Logs/Launch.log For client issues - Install Directory/tModLoader-Logs/client.log For server issues - Install Directory/tModLoader-Logs/server.log (To get to your install directory on Steam - right click tModLoader in the library, then hover over Manage and click on Browse local files.)

nothing weird there dunno, do you still have the original files?
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
which original files i have everything other than the old tmodloader client but its still in my trash bin
Putan
Putan•3y ago
then just copy your original world files to the worlds folder and problem solved
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
but these are the originals? i... dont have any other world files?
Putan
Putan•3y ago
that can only mean that the original files are already outdated
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
so where did all the things i do in the last month go this doesnt make a lot of sense to me is there any way to load earlier saves
Putan
Putan•3y ago
neither does it to me based on the info you are telling me
noble-gold
noble-goldOP•3y ago
i told you everything im still confused on how worlds save data if it doesnt overwrite every time you save and exit or is that a bug, or what? so there's no solution im assuming
Putan
Putan•3y ago
