Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader in the library, then hover over Manage and click on Browse local files. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340cgenetic-orangeOP•2y ago
@jopojelly here u go
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
this log mentions
C:\Users\Admin\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Terraria\tModLoader, so windows still thinks it's saving documents to onedrivegenetic-orangeOP•2y ago
so how does one prevent that
im really bad with windows bloatware stuff
unwilling-turquoise•2y ago
are you the jopojelly
uninstalling onedrive usually does that
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
yes. but it's uninstalled already
and now previously onedrive stored files have a fat X over their file images now
so im pretty clueless right now
well, I googled and found this `https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/remove-all-traces-of-onedrive-from-my-computer/007f814e-471a-4b51-b615-4dbbf0304f8a
Seems like you can right click on the my documents folder and change where it should be located
A big X sounds like the files were in the onedrive cloud, not locally stored

he just tried and got this error
Well, seems like the destination folder already exists
as it says
You could probably move over the files and delete the empty folder, then move the destination folder
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
well, i just had him delete the already existing one, then try the moving process again
same error appears
Hm, not sure about that
Maybe just reinstall onedrive and use the onedrive menus to deselect syncing the documents folder
If you don't want to deal with any of this, you can just make a
savehere.txt file, by the way.genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
how does
savehere.txt work
just put text where you want saved files to go to?You just make a file with that name in the install directory and it saves to the install directory instead of the windows specified documents folder location
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
so within
savehere.txt, put C:/Users/%UserProfile%/Desktop/saves?No, you don't put anything in the file
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
i'm a little bit confused
I would suggest eventually figuring this out, since other games, such as Terraria, will also save in the documents folder, so you'll have the same issue
open up the install directory, make a file named
savehere.txt, that's itgenetic-orangeOP•2y ago
by the install directory, you mean tml's, like
steamapps/common/...?yes

How do I find where tModLoader is installed? See this and find out where to find tML: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/ca074436-df34-4e51-93e8-7a91da898c14
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
i know where that is dw
just havent done any of this onedrive goofiness before
savehere didn't even work
i think his onedrive mess is a lost cause, he'll have to try reinstalling and figuring it out in the future
He might have made savehere.txt.txt on accident

Make sure you have File Name Extensions turned on or you'll be confused: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/2f901fe9-db01-4bff-b930-449220419ae7
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
no, he didn't
he has extensions disabled so i just had him name it
savehereHm. Well, it should work.
Another option is setting
tmlsavedirectory ./tModLoader in the steam launch arguments for tModLoader
that'll do the same thinggenetic-orangeOP•2y ago
i'll keep that stored in my head for the next time we try to solve this problem
if the issue persists i'll be sure to ping here
xenial-black•2y ago
Hi there, sorry for the ping. Did you ever manage to resolve this issue? My friend is having an identical issue to yours and we've tried everything at this point it seems. @Ryan ⛐ (Commissions Open)
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
nope, we never found a solution
xenial-black•2y ago
We just figured it out. We ended up deleting this entire folder and let the game recreate it on fresh install/launch.
xenial-black•2y ago
I guess some file was corrupted or something
genetic-orangeOP•2y ago
it wouldn't let my friend
