Steam multiplayer on Linux
When using the native Linux version on Steam, the option for joining via steam multiplayer doesn't appear for me. As a workaround I've been using the windows version via Proton which obviously causes a whole lot of other issues. I was wondering if this is a know issue or if there's a fix for this. I'm running the apt version of steam on Ubuntu 23.10.

Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader in the library, then hover over Manage and click on Browse local files. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340cI haven't heard of that. One thing you can try is launching from the start-tmodloader.sh file directly, might influence something

so I was doing something non-standard with my steam library (with symlinks) and it seems like tModLoader wasn't able to detect that I was running it via steam, as I found out through the logs from start-tmodloader.sh. I changed to a more standard approach and now it is showing up, but when trying to join, the mod loading screen is extremely slow and after some time it crashes the other persons server, the server log talks about a timeout
If mods are reloading while attempting to connect, there is the possibility of a timeout. The best bet is to enable all the same mods and mod configs that the server has before attempting to connect, avoiding the mod reload stage of connecting to a server altogether

it is just a surprise that the server would crash
okay, thank you, it seems the issue is resolved
I still find it odd that the server could crash because of a different client
Oh, it shouldn't be crashing the server, didn't notice you said that.
