🀫 it's not coming exactly, but it may be possible via another feature that might come has a few kinks that need working out if we do ship it it'll make it to v4 but probably post-release

If you don't happen to ship OpenSUSE as a container option in the next day πŸ˜…, as a quick emergency, is there a way that I can use BlendOS's tools to make an OpenSUSE container? I did my do diligence by looking into the matter but I didn't find information on the matter.

no, but whenever i get the time and energy (i am both tired and busy af getting ready for college) i'd like to add user-configurable (and/or system-configurable) images, rather than it being hardcoded also the code is a bit of a mess of half-removed features i think, which makes it more difficult to implement this feature in particular, but given how much stuff that i'm not familiar with (the gui, bpkg) interacts with the containers, i'm also not comfortable removing it so that's another reason i've been putting off adding this

i see, it would require some team effort to cover your bases of which you are not familiar with ty btw πŸ’™

ofc <3 now that i think about it, i think it would actually be simpler than i thought lol might do it tomorrow (realistically unlikely because 1) eepy 2) i always forget)

the reason an openSUSE container is specifically in really high demand for me right now is because the Autodesk Fusion 360 for Linux port was made for openSUSE by an openSUSE user... and I am a machining major so 😭 ...

jesus christ lol not enough space to dual boot on one drive?
evelyn
evelynβ€’6mo ago
Windows is notorious for doing funny things on dual boot with other OS's like overwriting the non-windows system reformatting the other half of the drive if necessary 😭

it's been pretty good for me, especially on more modern versions

I cannot describe to you the pain of writing windows .iso's to install mediums 5 different times, each .iso writing coming from either official microsoft repo or trusted third parties, only to have them be so corrupted, even when tried on mutliple devices, that it fails installation at the same percentage every time It's almost as painful as manually creating all necessary file paths to run Battlefield 3's anti cheat w/o Proton or the install script(which only works for the Originstore version). Don't ask me how I know 😭

all that stuff being said, i can't promise opensuse support, as that would be another package manager to support and idk how that would go, would need to look at the code again and see. should go fine, but idk for sure

if I had somebody else in my life that had a known-good image of Windows 11 that somehow happened to play good with my motherboard (My motherboard actually has all TPM requirements and is a mature Intel 10th gen process, it's just radically incompatible with window's 11 ISO's for some reason 😭 ).. then it would be more feasible for me I guess

most normal computer problem
evelyn
evelynβ€’6mo ago
It took me a corrupted windows 10 ISO from microsoft.net, and my knowledge of troubleshooting to fix that corruption and also the constant drive fragmentation problem to be able to have a stable windows install on this computer It just so happened to be a corrupted windows 10 ISO that wasn't so corrupted that it wouldn't get past the install wizard to install it which felt like I had won the lottery after 2 days of sitting around watching it fail on different ISO's Even then, with that corrupt but less-corrupt ISO, if I didn't fix the corruption fast enough, i.e.: roughly 7 minutes of uptime, full system lockup. So I was working with a time limit each boot. honestly the problem might have come down to using Ventoy for Windows instead of rufus or belana etcher, and also probably the hard drive maybe... Ventoy is so good at deploying Linux images, it makes you become complacent

Shoutout to people that install Linux via overwriting windows via windows powershell though, instead of DVD discs and thumbdrive's though, they are societies hero's

You’ll need to use a toolbx container Not just a random openSUSE container The toolbx containers have certain things preinstalled
