Comparing Sentry & Honeycomb on Span Queries

Sentry and Otel integration is going to be a whole lot better in Sentry 8.
the new beta is already pretty good and with the latest otel improvements in Effect next-minor,
and enabling "Early Adopter" mode in the Sentry settings, things are looking really good.
I gave them some more feedback and they're working on it.
To me a much better UX than Honeycomb so far, especially for span rendering etc.

However the one thing I think Honeycomb is more powerful for is doing powerful queries, including cross span, e.g you can say, give me all spans with this attribute, where the parent has that attribute, or any span in the transaction has this and that attribute.
That's something I could've used badly past weeks, and Honeycomb provides.
Right now i'm running with both Sentry and Honeycomb span processors, so I can compare them coming time 🙂

Oh and they're working on reshaping their pricing for June... I did point out their 250k performance units included is a little meager in todays tracing world, even if they are transactions, not individual spans.

They're also working with otel to use the latest spec attributes, though it's funny even otel still has http.method in their SDK, while they advertise http.request.method etc in their docs.
