Customer Account API scopes

I am following the guide here for settings up new customer account extensions.

When I try to run the query to the

shopify://customer-account/api/latest/graphql.json

shopify://customer-account/api/latest/graphql.json

endpoint I get this error.

"Access denied for customer field. Required access: `customer_read_customers` access scope."

"Access denied for customer field. Required access: `customer_read_customers` access scope."

. Is there a way in gadget I can request this scope? I tried adding it to the custom scopes and still couldn't get it to work.
