Splitters and mergers only want to attach to the outputs of constructor, assembler and possibly others.
Splitters and mergers can't be rotated, once attached.
If these are the intended behaviors, they don't match the description & pictures.
Started a new game with only this installed, to test.

Solution
Yeah, it's buggy I know. Stuff changed with 1.0 and I wanted to get a semi-working version out at least
