Immich Redis saving to disk "no space left on device"
Weirdly the redis container seems to take up space on my root (/) partition, as cleaning up dangling docker images often solves the issue for a bit. However, as can be seen in my docker-compose.yml, the redis container doesn't even have any volumes attached. How can this be the case and how can I solve it?

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)

status:
this is running on alpine linux, docker engine. The hardware is an x86_64 intel based minipc.
The root partition is pretty small (thats why the error is coming) and I mainly use an external HDD anyway, mounted on /media/vol.
fdisk -l and df -h outputs attached (you can also see there that / is 100% full. Likely since the redis container somehow accesses it)
Any container's 'root' filesystem will go in /var/lib/docker, so that's where any writes go if there isn't a volume mount on the container
You could set a volume for redis's data volume, but I think either way you should probably give your root disk some more space
I see. The root in /var/lib/docker will get erased each container restart, right? Wouldn't that be an issue if I give the redis data volume a persistent storage?
I sadly can't expand my root disk since this isn't a VM and the machine can't be disassembled.
You should make a new VM or expand the disk. That’s not really an immich issue though
Redis will generate some data. This is unavoidable
i see. thanks
You can also remote some unused docker images to reclaim the space
