imagine i accidently sent personal information like where i live or smth and then quickly delete it and then because of someone using deleted message loggers they get to see it forever
some message loggers keep it for 24hrs tho
and some people say that message loggers are like screenshotting messages... except using message loggers are like if you screenshotted every message sent in every server you're in, constantly even when you are afk/idle doing smth else
some people make it even worse by using offline mode so now you don't even know when you are being spied on, you just know that you might be spied on right now
most people get message loggers because they think they are the cool one being able to see deleted messages
and deleted messages are meant to stay deleted
🤣 lmao i remembered ztuned saying "if they accidently post a message they shouldn't've, it's their fault", trying to give the blame on the people sending the messages
oh and what if you send a cringy message that you want it to be deleted but then you realize that 1. the message logger users will still see it 2. the message will be saved FOREVER in the server message logger
in discord, people expect to be able to delete their messages so they care abit less about "thinking before you type"
what if they sent the personal information to the wrong DM

Yeah! Sometimes I might want to delete an old weird message i said in the past on a server but then i realize that they have a log bot and if i delete the message sent months ago then dyno will send a message at the time of deletion of the message

also i think there should be an option in the poll between the "no!!! i will report you!!" and the "eh" option because the first option is abit "mocking" of the people who don't like message loggers

message loggers store this info until you reset your client

as unfortunate as it is, message logs are pretty much crucial for moderation

You can make it that the logged deleted messages clear after 3 days, so let's say someone sent a message a month ago, and deletes it today, then it will show that the message is deleted but after 3 days it will delete the "deleted message in: general" thing

the classic overused "blaming everything on the person who sent the message" excuse
it's possible to accidently post personal information
example: you clicked on the wrong server, or you pasted the wrong file or you posted the right file but you forgot to blur something so you quickly delete it and posted it blurred again

it makes people shut up about finding out what bad stuff someone did
as bad as it sounds
if people dont know why someone's in trouble
they'll likely ask mods
which could get more people timed out
making more people curious
if they did care and have loggers, it would be more clear to them and they'll stop asking

not sending any strange stuff, however mistakes can happen like accidently forgetting to blur out something in a screenshot (like name or IP)
if you’re gonna take an image with an ip address id think thatll be the first thing youll think of before you send the image
