Export all the uploads to a external SSD
Hello,
I am trying to have a backup of the pictures I have in Immich in an external SSD
I can't find a process apart from backing up the database and the upload folders:
https://immich.app/docs/administration/backup-and-restore/
which is fine, but my pictures are under the upload folder but they have the structure of the picture. Which makes it tricky to understand outside of immich, is there a way to export them out of that structure?
Thank you in advance

You should just enable the storage template?
Thank you for the replies
@Zeus @Mraedis
@Zeus what implications it has on the existing setup?
Storage template will migrate all your assets to the new structure
should i do a backup before or?
Do you not have backups already?
nope, therefore my question :/
Ofc you should
Has nothing to do with the storage template
I understand 🙂
thank you
So yes, def setup backups before you do anything else to immich
Also, a copy to an SSD will not be a good backup
You should use a backup tool like restic or borg that will make deduplicated backups and retain old versions
You can use the SSD to store the backups easily
mmm borg i heard about it, restic, i haven't, i will have to look into them
thanks @Zeus
