Batteries won't charge

Batteries on both sides won't charge. The display on the nano indicates that it thinks it's being charged, and the power switch is on, but nothing happens. At first I thought the problem was the knock-off batteries I bought, so I ordered the proper ones from AliExpress that typeractive recommended, and they took a while to ship so I only just got them a week ago. But they both have the same problem! So the problem can't be the batteries, but is board related. Everything looks soldered properly, so I do know what to try next. Someone suggested that the charging circuits might be shorted, but how would that have happened to BOTH boards?

is it just the indicator that doesn’t change or the batteries are not powering the keyboard at all?

So when I first installed the batteries, they already had a charge, and they powered the keyboard as expected. But I could never get them to gain a charge So once they inevitably ran out of charge, I couldn't get them to power the board again.

Does the orange LED turn on when charging?

do you have a multimeter? can you share some pictures of your board?

I have a multimeter but you'd have to tell me what to do with it, I only ever figured out how to use the continuity function. Here are some pics

As you can see, they're not amazing solders, but as far as I can tell they should be good enough for a solid connection. Or at least, I can't find a single spot that may be causing an issue

oh wow, what temp did you use? the left nano looks pretty beat up 😅 not sure it explains the battery not charging on either side

Can't remember, but I remember looking at the temp it was already set to and thinking "eh that'll do". That may have been a little too reckless Is there any multimeter magic I can do to narrow down the issue?

I would plug the battery in and check the voltage from B+ to B-, and then check if you get anything different when plugged in over USB. Also double check if you're getting the orange light

All is properly connected and the nano! chip are flashed… I dont know what to review

Why don't you think it's charging? The orange LED would indicate that the charging circuitry is currently putting charge into the bttery.

But the battery never charge, I let them connected all night and the battery dont charge, its not the battery because I test 2 pairs. One pair has charge but was drained because the charge must be with the keyboard on.

Do you have a multimeter? If so can you please check the voltage of the battery before and after charging?

Hello, all the batteries are drained, in this state the voltaje is 3.25v before and after I have the keyboard on and conected to USB for about a couple of hours. In this moment the Orange light doesnt get on 😫

And this is for both boards? It seems unlikely to have two broken nanos 😦

Yes, its the same for the 2 boards… none of them charge the battery. After the holidays I will get a charger to discard any battery problem or get new nanos 😭

I'm having the same issue. Works plugged in, but the batteries don't do anything. No orange light anywhere. Figured it out. The batteries we purchased have the polarity reversed in the JST connector. Need to cut and reverse it. Mine are working now and luckily it didn't kill the controllers.
