Log alerting

Is it possible to set alerts for logging? Either officially or unofficially.

I can't justify upgrading from pro to team just to get log drains to setup an alert for error logs.

Is there an API I could query or a table I could setup a cron script on?

In general the main logs you see are not in a table but written straight to disk and to analytics/logflare.

Ah yeah I found that as well, assumed the Log Drains was the solution that they released since that reply is 8 months old. Hoping for an alternative soon, otherwise I'll need to just have a habit of checking it every so often.
