LinkedIn OIDC: "Unsupported provider: 429 Too Many Requests: "

Authentication using linkedin_oidc suddenly stopped working. I get this error JSON: {"code":400,"error_code":"validation_failed","msg":"Unsupported provider: 429 Too Many Requests: "}. At the same time, email login is still working. Is this a known issue with LinkedIn currently or is this an indicator of a problem on my end? ( my web application worked fine for multiple months, I did not deploy any changes since several days. now I suddenly got this problem. ) Thanks for any advice!
