external library with write permission

How can I import images/ videos into my immich account without having them twice? I dont understand the purpose of immich if i apparently cant e.g. delete an image from my external library. I have multiple sources of media files and I thought immich was the perfect way to view them but I definitely need write access in order to delete duplicates etc...
