Albums not showing in app but in Web
One of my larger albums loads just fine in the web on the same accounts and others but mine won't show in my android immich app. Is this a known bug or is there a fix. The album is kortnee, Steven, Connor, Rosie

The screenshot is pretty blurry but I think right now there's a pretty big app perforamnce issue when having a lot of albums or an album with a lot of assets in them

Surprisingly scrolling and everything in the UI runs great. It just won't show that one album. Which is so weird it's only on android app not web browser like Firefox or chrome with the same account.
It's about 11.15k pictures/videos so I don't know if this is the issue

My wife's phone shows it fine as well as my parents it's only on my phone. I've tried wiping app removing cache and app data

Do you know the behavior of the albums that are not showed, are they from you? Or from another user?
Yes the album is from my account. It loads fine for everyone else no problem on android and iOS. It even loads just fine for me on web on my android phone on browsers such as Firefox or chrome. But the album and photos are owned by me shared to family using immich

the albums, do you know if the assets in those albums are from external library?

No they as far as I know have been the same since I made the immich container

I don't think there is a need, there seems to be a bug in the database query
No it's only been having this issue recently nothing has changed with the external libraries

Can you atake a look for the album Disney World 2022 on the web to see if there are any assets in those albums that are archived, or stack, or anything special

Yes sorry just did a rescan in my account im the only owner it is a shared album though.

can you try unshared the album with other users?
so that the album can only viewed by you, then open the mobile app, pull to refresh the album page to see if that album show up
The weird thing is it loads for all the other users it's only my account that won't display it

So yes I have done this a couple hundred of times. It's usually the first troubleshooting step. I did just retry and no luck. It starts to refresh and stops almost instantly

Disney world 22 has 190 assets originally if I am not mistaken
so the 2 or 4 different are from other shared users.
So I just removed the current users accept myself and refreshed the mobile immich app under albums

DId you use any script to create album from external library?
So the album was created by me and no I don't have any albums shared with me. I do run on unraid extension to immich. But I manually created the albums.

Is that correct that the missing albums are all from external library?
you have three external libraries, and the corresponding album with the library name are missing
Are the external libraries mounted as read-only?
So somewhat I have photos that are prexisting on one disk. And the other are stored on my unraid server. Ie one is a smb drive J. Then the other is on a share on unraid another smb share called Unraid_Share. The external libraries should have fill read and write

And added manually all the photos and video by multi selecting

@DemonWarrior I tried to reproduce the issue with shared external library album but I still haven't found the way to trigger the error yet. I think our best bet is for you to check in the Wedding Photos, since it has 210 photos but there are only 104 reported on the mobile app, can you check that album to see if there is any common denominator for almost half of the assets in that album. It might give us a clue

let me try. The weird thing is all the albums load on everything on another device or account. even on my steven account on a browser. its only on the mobile app immich. the web browser on my phone loads it just fine
yeah the mobile app uses different mechanism (i.e) sync to get the data
it is a bit convolute and heavy in technical debt at the moment, so we are reworking it to be better

You can target the Wedding album since it has 200 assets and the mobile app only see 100 something assets
so the differences may be easily spotted
from then you can tell me what are the similarity of almost half of the album, like are they from a certain device, shared by a certain users, if they are removed, archived, favorites...etc
so this is 102 files these are from a local library not external as far as i remember

or vice versa

god no. there from 2023 but the time date stamp is off because the professional photographer didnt time stamp it or when editing messed with the timestamp

Just for everyones information. Me and Alex have fixed the issue. It was a external album issue. Removing the external album and re-adding it to the immich system. Then adding the images back to the album fixed the issue

And we still have no clue what happened lol
true but its a hotfix so. lets just call it a win and a easy fix to try for someone else
I have this same issue outcome with only a single Shared Album (but it is my largest album by far), with 8,283 assets in it, except that for me I have no External Libraries at all. I can view that album just fine in the web app (all users, including my admin user can) but I can't see that album (anymore, in the last 60 days, where it was working for years before that) in the Android app. Everything is on the latest Immich version. The problem started happening about 2 months ago, when the number of assets in that Shared Album has just reached about 8,000 total assets. Out of all albums in my tenant, and again I don't have any External Libraries, that 1 album has by far the most activity/adds to it. No other Shared Albums have this same problem (about 16 total). The library size is about 340 GB.
Things I have tried so far, first time I have looked into if this is a known issue was on 03/14/25:
1. I have tried upgrading from the past 3-4 versions of the Immich Server and the Android mobile app which did not help at all.
2. Cleared Android mobile app cache, and data.
3. Uninstalled Android mobile app, after clearing cache and data first.
4. Tried installing Android app even on a brand mobile phone, didn't help.
5. Logged in as a few different users to the Android mobile app, that is a member of that Shared Album, and no other users are able to see that 1 album in the Android app at all, even if I add a new user to it that wasn't a member of it before, or a member of Immich before (a new user after the problem started).
6. Unshared that 1 album with all users (I'm the admin user), did not help.
7. Temp renamed the album, as it had a date in it, but that didn't help at all so I renamed it back.
I was thinking that this has to be a known issue with the Android mobile app, and was hoping to find some answers, or a workaround for it. This is the 1st thread that looked to be my issue. I was hoping not to have to somehow redo that entire album.

Continued from my post above. I masked out some of the album name, and blurred it a bit. The first screenshot shows the website, in the Shared Albums section, where that one Shared Album in question works fine for all users (never had an issue with it in web app). And the screenshot of the Android mobile app photo is the 2nd screenshot below that. The Log screenshot is at the bottom, that does always mention a problem with that one shared album. And again I don't have any External Libraries for sure (I never have, and I just verified that in the web app). The Immich Server app is on v1.29.0, and the Android mobile app is on v1.29.0.



Can you export and share the logs for analysis?

How long have you been using Immich? Do you remember the albums showing up previously? I suspect the issue to be from the album repository refactor. Will add additional troubleshooting logs in the next release to get to the root of this issue
Iirc, there could be bug still in delta/full sync api since we migrate to Kysely. I think the new sync implementation will cancel this out eventually

I have been running Immich on that instance for maybe 3-4 years now. Yes that album showed up before in the Android app, up until around 60 or so days ago, and that same album still does show up to this day in the web app, just not in the Android app (I have tested it on multiple phones and accounts, even for clean installs of the client on a brand new phone with the app fresh installed on it to match the server version), and that album is my primary shared album that I had mentioned in the first post. It is by far the largest album for number of assets in it, at 8,283 (the issue started about when it had 8,000 total assets in it, 60 or so days ago, maybe a bit longer than that). I usually upgrade the server version and app version 1 or 2 days after the public release is out. That shared album still to this day shows up fine in the web app, never had a problem with that album or any albums in the web app. I update both the server and the app regularly, and both are on v1.29.0 now.
Does that mean that a new client app or server version should be able to fix that issue for me?

OK, I was dreading having to do some sort of manual re-create album and import, just to get the Android app to show that album again, thanks! At the start of 2025 I had switched all of my family members that used that album to using the app instead of the website, now that it has a way to detect network settings in the app, etc., and for awhile I had to tell them to go back to using the website only, since that problem with the primary 8,283 assets album started 60 or so days ago. I just figured someone else would have hit that issue surely by now, and a newer version would have fixed it, but I didn't check on the bug until a few days ago to know.
I do not believe that this issue will only affect if "External Libraries" are utilized, for where the album exists that "Albums not showing in app but in Web". I think there is more to it than that, as I have no External Libraries at all. In my case the entire library asset files are hosted on the Pi5's NVME hard disk, which is the same disk that the Immich server is installed on.
FYI, 😉 v1.130.3 fixed this issue for me, I just verified that with my 8,318 assets shared album (that is not on an external library) that has been missing in the mobile app for months now, since the end of January 2025 in fact. In that case I didn't see the dev notes for the "Fixes a bug where some albums don't show up on the mobile app". Thanks for the quick turnaround on this bug fix guys!
