tmodloader mac stopped working after today's update

As the title states, in the last hour or so tmodloader will not launch on mac. It will start and immediately fail after launch. Any ideas?

Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page. If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on tModLoader in the library, then hover over Manage and click on Browse local files. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340c

Mind deleting all the log files and then trying to run it again?

One minute There are no logs in general maybe the steamdeck loader refuses to launch

... Not even a launch.log? So it's just clicking play and doing nothing?

yes-- the folder stays empty

I've been having this happen, too, and I'm playing on steam deck maybe I shouldn't have done the scheduled update early

ok, that tells me a lot. I'll check some stuff in Steam. In the interim, you can try running start-tmodloader.sh directly which, should launch

weirdly enough, if I turn on the force compatibility using proton, it starts fine

noted. then it's definitely a compability settings thing in the Steam dev page. I wonder what changed But yeah, this should always work for Mac or Linux independent of any steam stuff so if proton has any issues this is next option while I look in to it

I might be stupid, but it doesn't look like it is doing anything.

You can fix it by changing the third line to
{ read -n 1 -s -r -p "Can't cd to script directory. Press any button to exit..." && exit 1; }
{ read -n 1 -s -r -p "Can't cd to script directory. Press any button to exit..." && exit 1; }

It's broken because the script itself is broken.

ah you right that worked, ty

It's unconditionally running exit 1 which causes it to exit.

hi! I'm currently trying to troubleshoot this with my friend, do you mind explaining what the interim is?
Solxan
Solxan8mo ago
The update should be out in about 5 to 10 minutes And that should fix it, assuming that was the only issue
