yeah i did that after i changed the storage template, but well before my partner tried to backup
i'll run it again
oh, i have a theory...
no luck, i re-ran the job, and then backed up another file on her phone, and it still landed in that other directory
i take it that's not the expected behaviour?
i created an Album on both phones called "test folder". I was curious to see how Immich handled the conflict, perhaps I broke something with that test?
cause in my second test I used a completely different (and unique) Album name
I don't think that's expected behavior
yeah i was curious because i assumed a conflict like this would happen sooner or later so if it caused an issue i wanted to know now before we all started using this for everything. it seems inevitable to me many people would have albums called "pets" or "family" or "holiday", feels like a scenario that needs to be accounted for
anyway, assuming this broke something, is there anyway to reverse it?
Not sure, never used storage templates and don't know how they work internally. Hopefully someone else can help you with this
album names aren't shared across users, no
ok i'll make sure we don't have the same names going forward
if they weren't the same, is it fair to say they should have all followed the same storage template, and landed in the "admin" directory?
storage template will also save in a templated name for the user, in the case of the admin user the template defaults to "admin", for other users it's their userID, but you can set this in the settings
or is what i observed the expected behaviour
For the user: account settings -> account -> storage label
ok let me see...
it's greyed out for her:

Ah right admin privilege that way...
Admin settings -> users -> edit
oh! storage label = user folder
so each user has their own folder
Yes that's what the label means
ok yeah that's not what i thought it meant lol
oh...it seems you can only create a storage template for the admin user?
the first half of that path is greyed out
i can't take it up a level
or create two storage templates, one for each user
No I mean only as admin user you can edit the label of the other users
through Admin settings -> users -> edit a user, it's at the bottom
And yes, the storage template is global for all users
ok
