tml says "no license" when i try to launch it
I have terraria through steam family sharing which is probably the cause
my question is can i somehow launch tml while not technically owning the game?

Installation is easy. If you purchased the Steam version of Terraria, install tModLoader from https://store.steampowered.com/app/1281930/tModLoader/.
