cant join my friend
im using tmodloader and he's hosting the server vanilla, i have no mods enabled, yet i cant join

Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader in the library, then hover over Manage and click on Browse local files. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old folder and drag them into this chat. You can't join a Terraria server from tModLoader. Launch Terraria if you want to join them

Did it not show an error message saying that? I'll have to look into this if it's not saying anything useful. Was this through IP or steam invite?

no, i was joining through steam
nothing in the console either
So, was it getting stuck on Connecting in-game then?

Heh. it's just a little confusing since tModLoader is a bit special. Just launch Terraria and it'll all be as normal

no popup no anything just no connection
i asked my friend to send an invite, that doesnt work too

ah, well, that wouldn't affect the steam invite, you would still need to join via IP address
Steam invites are programmed to notify specific programs, Terraria and tModLoader don't receive the same invites from Steam
What that mod claims to do is let you join despite tModLoader and Terraria not being compatible, but you still need to do that through IP address not invites

Well, you might want to verify that IP works in Terraria first. It could be a port forwarding issue, not a tmod issue
