Migrate from an old version
I just brought my old NAS back to life and I want to update Immich to the latest version. The version currently installed is 1.79, and I know a lot of stuff changed since then. What's the best option to migrate to the newest version? I don't mind starting over but I want to keep my photos.

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.

I'm aware thanks. Problem is there are 53 versions between the current one I'm using and the latest, so was wondering if there's a way I could just export my photos and import them back into a fresh instance to speed up the process, even if it means rebuilding all the metadata.
you could mount the current images directory as an external library in the new instance
External library has limitations
I think I'll just reupload the photos using the CLI tool
