iPad tries to reupload all photos to Immich
I’ve set up Immich using Docker and successfully backed up all 22,000 photos from my iPhone. Everything works great.
Now I installed the Immich app on my iPad (same account) and enabled backup since I sometimes take photos or screenshots on that device too. However, as soon as I enable backup on the iPad, Immich shows that 22k files are ready to be uploaded again.
That’s not what I want — I don’t want duplicates or the entire iCloud photo library to be reuploaded from the iPad. I only want new photos taken on that device to be backed up.
Is there a way to avoid this mass re-upload behavior when enabling backup on a second device?

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.Currently duplicate checking happens on the server, so it will try to upload everything and reject-serverside
In the future this will happen clientside, but for now there is no way around it
Ok so I can safely say start backup and it will reject?
Because right now I paused it on iPad
Actually, I just got an idea. It is the same iCloud account anyway. So things I do on iPad are synced to iPhone and that will upload it to Immich. Guess that would be best for now, because I started the backup proces and it was very slow, going over it one by one again.
