How to downgrade from pgvecto-rs:pg15-v0.2.0 to pgvecto-rs:pg15-v0.2.0 ?
I have a dump.sql.gz file database from an Immich installation that used pgvecto-rs:pg15-v0.2.0 by mistake.
I got it following the instructions here: https://immich.app/docs/administration/backup-and-restore/
I tried to restore it back to pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0 but I got a few errors.
How can I successfully downgrade from pgvecto-rs:pg15-v0.2.0 to pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0?
I don't want to keep using pgvecto-rs:pg15-v0.2.0.
Thanks in advance!

Because pg14 is the official one
And now is getting changed to postgres:14-vectorchord0.3.0-pgvectors0.2.0
I don't want to have a different configuration/setup than the official one.
That's the error I'm getting when I try to restore
Going back to pg14 is more headache than just staying on pg15
There's literally no reason to downgrade
We also have migration images for pg15 (and 16 fwiw)
I'm probably going to forget I have pg15
If in the future I have an issue just because I have pg15, I'll probably end up being frustrated for wasting so much time.
It took a long time to migrate from the TrueNAS implementation of Immich to the official Docker Compose implementation
That's why I would like to upgrade now to avoid any future headaches
What does that mean? I apologize.
If in the future I have an issue just because I have pg15That is incredibly unlikely
The new image is also available for pg15
You can just use
postgres:15-vectorchord0.3.0-pgvectors0.2.0
(replace the 14 with 15)OK
I hope I don't have issues in the future
I cannot guarantee you that
But I can (almost) guarantee you it won't be because of pg15 :P
You would be surprised how long it took for me to migrate from TrueNAS apps to the Official Docker Compose implemenation
And we'll upgrade to pg18 at some point anyways, so by then you can upgrade as well and everyone will be on the same version :)
I don't know why TrueNAS used 15 when Immich recommends 14
I see.
Thank you very much.
There’s no technical reason why immich needs 14, we just never changed the default
In fact I’d personally recommend pg17 since it naturally has improvements over older versions
But you can just use pg15 without worry as well
OK
Thanks a lot
