Welcome to #support-forum. Before someone helps you, please first consult the information in #TML Troubleshooting Guide and try all the suggestions that might fit your particular issue, especially in the linked FAQ page.
If the information in the pinned thread does not solve your issue, please post all log files by dragging and dropping them into this chat. In Steam right click on
tModLoader
in the library, then hover over Manage
and click on Browse local files
. In the folder that appears find tModLoader-Logs
and open that folder. Inside that folder are the logs files. Select them all except the Old
folder and drag them into this chat. If you need a visual guide to this process watch this: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/assets/4522492/3f4efa43-753f-4733-b630-ba85e711340cYour natives.log shows an error from
Terraria.Graphics.Light.LightMap.BlurLine
, but I've never seen an error like that before
Have you verified that no error occurs with 0 mods enabled?I think I've seen that error in my logs, don't wanna intervene but it might be helpful to look at my post too
I can send my client here if its helpful
yea send it
yes i have
huh, that is strange. I can't imagine how this error would happen with 0 mods
what should i do
the only thing I can think of is trying opengl or vulkan https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/wiki/Basic-tModLoader-Usage-FAQ#low-fps step 5
it still crashes
what else could i try
completely fresh install, just to be sure
i tried
what else could i try
Looks like setting lighting to retro might help
how do i do that
You can get to the main menu, right? It's in the settings menu somewhere
in tmodloader
yeah
ok
Settings->Video->Lighting
so what am i changing
change it to retro
ok
it still crash
can you send new logs?
why are there mods enabled in this log? I thought we were testing 0 mods enabled
disable them all, then close and reopen the game and trigger your crash
I don't see a crash in what you sent. Did it crash this session?
yes
Your error seems to be happening at different parts of the code now. I have no idea what is going on. The only weird thing I see in your logs is "__COMPAT_LAYER=RunAsAdmin Win8RTM", which suggests you tried to run the game as admin? (running as admin can cause issues) Maybe Steam is being run as admin? Have you tried manually launching the game yet outside of steam? (run start-tModLoader.bat in the install folder)
it still crashed
even when i did it outside of steam
can you try deleting the dotnet folder in the install folder and then starting it outside of steam again
it still crashes
K, I'm out of ideas
oh
can u guide me through things
add me
through what? We already tried everything I could think of
idk if i was doing it correctly tho
Is there anywhere where you were confused? It seems like you followed all the suggestions I said without any question
is there anyone else who would know anything
it never used to crash this much
idk why all of sudden it crashes this much
did anything change that you can think of? New antivirus?
i really dont know
this never happened ever before
im really confused
Have you played any other games since these crashes started, do the other games crash?
none of my other games crash
hm. Wait, are you really on windows 8?
I wasn't aware that tModLoader could even run on that.
im on windoes 11 but for the game its on windows 8
is that why?
how do i get off windows 8 for the game
well, I thought deleting that dotnet folder would fix this, but you can open up the properties of dotnet/dotnet.exe and see what it says
in the compatibility tab
nothing should be checked
i dont see compatibility tab

that's the folder
that's not what I said to open the properties of
oh i see
was something checked?
no
ima try it again
sorry been busy with work, Ill send the log that had the same lighting wierd crash
