you disabled every mod, then loaded the world, and it still happened??

yep, but I eventually figured it out.

The Umbra mod doesn't do it by default, but if you actually start using it and upgrade it's tree, whenever I died, it made my health and stuff vanish

that's why it didn't do anything when I disabled mods, because I actually had to play with it for it to happen
