Understanding Model.DateTimeInsertFromDate and Model.DateTimeUpdateFromDate Optionality

If I am not understanding correctly, please correct me. The insert type of a model created with

Model.Class

Model.Class

that has a field with schema of

Model.DateTimeInsertFromDate

Model.DateTimeInsertFromDate

does not make that field optional. It is also the case with

Model.DateTimeUpdateFromDate

Model.DateTimeUpdateFromDate

. Is this the intended behaviour?
