Folder view - no shared folders from partner?
Hi all,
new here, currently test driving Immich 1.137.3 to hopefully replace PiGallery2 and provide some additional comforts (timeline view, etc) to our family photo management.
We currently have thousands of photos collected over the years in a well maintained folder-file structure (YYYY/YYMM - event name/files) which resides on our NAS.
I managed to add a subfolder of this photo storage as a read-only to my Docker deployment and was able to add it as an external library to Immich.
I was also able to then share my photos with the test account I generated for my partner. My partner's account was able to see these photos in their timeline (after enabling it in the account options) but it is not possible to see the shared folders in the folder view (enabled for both accounts).
Is this by design or a bug?
I wonder how other families are using Immich. I understand that there is currently no way to automatically generate albums for folders in external libraries. This would solve the problem I believe as albums are shared with partners?
Thanks for your feedback!

Right, folder view won't show folders from another user. That's by design.
The same external library (same directory on host) can be created/attached to multiple users, though this means (1) duplication of thumbnails on disk (more space used), (2) no sharing of face recognition data.

Hey Sergey, thank you I appreciate you taking the time to confirm this and providing a possible way to solve this.
After trialing Immich for a bit, I am not sure if it currently is the best fit to my/our use case - the main issue being the way how existing folders are handled (or not handled). I will definitely keep a close eye on the project as it ticks lots of other boxes and I would migrate if the way how folders are handled wouldn't be so different from the way the project works (e.g. no albums for folders, I know there are scripts to facilitate this but it isn't able to address changes in the existing folder structure).
