Immich Upgrades

There are frequent Immich upgrades which is great. I have a working Immich setup. Upgrading is usually a; stop, pull, up, cycle I think. However my question is. How can I tell if the core docker compose file needs upgrading too?

 Hey @12TA, Thanks for reaching out to us. Please carefully read this message and follow the recommended actions. This will help us be more effective in our support effort and leave more time for building Immich :immich:. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider: - Your docker-compose.yml and .env files. - Logs from all the containers and their status (see above). - All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. - Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system. - Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware). - Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h). - The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces. - Any other information that you think might be relevant. Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots. Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;) If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close command, and re-open it later if needed.

@12TA breaking changes / "must change" things are always communicated. Altho it is not communicated most of the times to check the new docker compose and ensure you have the most up-to-date one, I would recommend doing so. An easy way to check whether you need to make changes to your current docker compose file is to compare it against the one released in the newest version. I usually use https://text-compare.com/ and compare old / new.

I recommend changedetection.io

That's not what he is asking. We're not talking about the Immich version change here. Its about whether docker-compose.yml has changes in it. This file is always named the same.

And adding raw release docker-compose.yml to changedetection will do exactly that. Check for changes and highlight the differences. I'm using it myself.

Okay, valid point. Was not aware that was possible with changedetection.

It is it's main feature. See the examples: https://github.com/dgtlmoon/changedetection.io

Thank you all. I do have some differences. Do I change things when they are working? That's the question now. (I'm not expecting an answer)

Depends on what is different. Personally I like to keep up to date with the setup, especially when versions of the images change.

Yep, that's IMHO the best approach to make sure stuff is compatible.

Edit: Nevermind! Both versions are combined in the upgrade screen like: v1.137.3_1.9.12, the first is immich official and the last is truenas verison. Truenas latest version is 1.9.14 and immich github latest release is 1.137.3. Is there document to show the relationship between the two different verison?

I don't think so. Also there might be multiple TrueNas app versions for one Immich version.
