Question about stringification of attributes in `Effect.annotateCurrentSpan`

It looks like the attributes I pass to Effect.annotateCurrentSpan get stringified. I'm wondering why it the type signature isn't just

annotateCurrentSpan(name: string, value: string)

annotateCurrentSpan(name: string, value: string)
