Question about animated AVIFs

When you view and open a GIF, it may have been transcoded as a WEBP but the WEBP will be animated and play normally. This behaviour doesn't seem to apply to animated AVIFs, which will just show a static screen (could be related to how

-map 0:v:1

needs to be specified in ffmpeg to convert avifs with animation frames properly). I know you can check 'Display original photos' but this option isn't available if you're accessing a public shared link. I was wondering if I'm missing something obvious here.
