Im still reasoning around how this caused the failure, something seems off to me, i think manhattan distance is appropriate in that case
It seems like the actual issue was the trace distance not being added
Manhattan distance is more relevant for spatial indexing usually
The Manhattan distance was higher than the actual clearance so the obstacle was filtered out with the assumption that it was far enough away.
