Phone Upgrade : Does Immich still reupload everything ?

Hello,

With the new timeline and app improvements, I am not sure if that “old” feature of everything being reuploaded before being rejected by server is still happening or not after a phone upgrade ?

Particularly interested in iOS.

It's moved to client-side hashing, so yes it will process the assets but not upload them before rejecting

Does that mean the initial process is very very slow ? Or is that spread out over time ?

It will depend on how many assets are on your phone of course, but it shouldn't take too long unless you have an iPhone with iCloud and space-saver enabled
