Help setting up mods on my dedicated linux (debian 11) server
Hi!
Yesterday I gave my server a fresh install and prepped it so I could run satisfactory on there.
Everything went well, tested vanilla and that all is okay 🙂
The issue happens when I try to add mods.
I use SMM, was able to correctly add the path via the SFTP. I enabled the profle I use for my local multiplayer game (Am I correct in thinking that anything that works for a multiplayer game, also works for a dedicated server? I have manually downloaded all the mods just to be sure and they all had a server file, however, what I find odd is that when I load satisfactory it says i have 21 mods, but in the SMM i only see 14, is there 7 different mods that the mods I downloaded are dependant on?
Anywho. When I try to connect to my server, even with a fresh install, when mods are enabled on the client and on the server (same profile) it just refuses to connect to the API.
I tried for about 5 hours yesterday but I am sure I have just done something wrong installing the mods in the correct way. Is anyone willing to help me? Im happy to restart that process if that is easier.
x

Mods have to be built separately for clients and servers so not all multiplayer mods support them.
Most likely there are dependencies which explains the difference in count.

We need more information to help you. Before launching the game again, open the Mod Manager and use the "Generate debug info" option, then send the zip file produced here in this channel.
If you need to access older log files, see https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/faq.html#Files_Logs

Something is preventing this mod from loading. Troubleshooting ideas:
- Try closing and reopening the mod manager
- Try turning mods off and back on again in the Mod Manager
- Are you playing on Experimental? Check the compatibility info to find out if that mod supports it.
- Are you using the most recent version of the mentioned mod? If you are, be patient. Mod support for new versions is an ongoing effort by authors in their spare time. If you absolutely need this mod, you can play something else or start a fresh save while you wait for an update!

Thank you 🙂 debug info loaded. am I blind or am I not able to see what mod is failed to load xD?
Mod Update Notifier is failing to load on the server
Just to check, you didn't do manual installation on the server?
I was going to , but when I opened the mod folder I saw that SMM did its thing and all the mods were loaded.. well 14
Hmm yeah it's odd, I see both update Notifier and the server are on the latest version so I wouldn't expect trouble
Not sure which of your mods is including update Notifier as a dependency
Ok. So you think that the process i have gone through with getting the mods ont he server (sftp via SMM) and have the same profile enabled on both client and server is the correct way at least?
I will check what mods needs that.
Yes you're doing it right, just something's gone wrong
Ok, thats already a step ahead of what I thought I was ^^ i will check what mod relies on the failed one and see if i really want that mod lol
@SpaceGameDev (Factory Props/MUN) any idea why MUN might be failing to load on a server?
Jep Factory props has that as a dependency, literally came here to say tha tlol
To confirm. Mod update notifier is only used by Factory Props in my list 🙂 Ill try to launch server & connect to it with that singular mod removed for now. 😄 to test if that was inded the issue for connecting
Final confirmation: Works perfectly fine without Factory Props ^^
Hi, I just got up, but I'll have a look at this as soon as I can.
No stress.. 😄 its just pixels in a game, good morning ^^
It's not loading because the C++ module can't be loaded, which to me would usually indicate that the mod was incorrectly installed and some files are missing.

However, I do see a message about "No available video device", which doesn't make sense in a server context since nothing should be rendering anyways?
Any reasons why they could be missing and what I could do to fix that?
Lol no. theres indeed no videodevice int he first place
seems like a complaint about not having a GPU, but that doesn't make sense in a server context. There might just be one mod that's not handling starting server multiplayer well.
You might be able to reinstall MUN from SMM and check if the
libFactoryServer-ModUpdateNotifier-Linux-Shipping.so file is present in FactoryGame/Mods/ModUpdateNotifier/Binaries/Linuxthis seems like a Unreal Redist/dependency problem
Will test! 😄 ❤️
reinstalled it via SMM. will check if this now fixed it

Can confirm!
Works again. Still had some API hickups which resolved themselves after I told the game to retry a couple of times xD seems all good now.
Awesome!
Thanks everyone for your help! ❤️ Ill set this one to resolved
You're welcome, and have fun!
