Assets won’t upload
Hello ! I’ve run a backup of all my iCloud assets on my iPad (and then on my iPhone to see if the problem was from the iPad).
After days of sync iPad was showing 18 remaining assets, my iphone is showing 23 remaining assets.
When opening details, there is nothing.
Log shows errors on multiple asset that I can’t seem to find in my library (see attachment).
You can also find a screenshot of my sync status.
Thanks in advance for whoever can help me backup my last assets.

Successfully submitted, a tag has been added to inform contributors. :white_check_mark:Interesting, Although you've tried it already, I'd like to see if you can find atleast one such asset in your library through the Photos app. If you cannot find it there, inside the Immich app, go to the Library tab -> On this device and see if you can find the problematic assets.
I kinda find one of the asset but it is complicated to explain, let me try :
When I did the first backup on the ipad I disabled beta timeline, doing so there was 18 failed asset and I could kinda see them in details

I can find these assets in my library, but not in immich, I think they appears with different names
I don’t know what to do mostly because I don’t understand what is going on ^^’
I tried deleting of these asset in iCloud but the « X remaining » did not bulge
When I recovered it it was backuped (I think) but was still in the « X remainder »
What should be my next steps ?
It would not be a great loss that theses files won’t upload and I would not miss them, but I’m kinda intrigued by what is going on there.
Also I don’t know if it has something to do with this but what is « 1 item » in my iCloud photos count (élément in my french screenshot)

You need to delete them from your device and not just iCloud
If you already have those assets, you can airdrop them to a mac and upload them through the web
I mean in the photos app, they were in the recently deleted folder
should I delete them completely and see what is happening ?
I’m trying this immediately and report
I see, make sure to take a backup of them if you're removing them permanently from your device. Do you also have those assets on iCloud?
I’m not sure what is really going on, although the 18 count matched
it looks like the photos shown in the details are backuped but with a different name

same photos in details (no beta timeline)/ photos app / immich
looking at the log I was able to locate one of the culprit appearing in the log
(don’t know why I was not able to find it by name)

(just saw that there was the date in the log that’s how I was able to track it)
And it kinda makes sense this image cause problems
It has been taken using a gimbal and it is a merged panorama of multiple photos
(don’t understand why it causes problems, just saying I can see why this photo in particular)
I’m gonna try to locate them all, airdrop them, delete them and will report back
Also, you keep saying that the beta timeline is not enabled, but the upload details page is only used in the new timeline and not the old one. Can you confirm if you're on the new timeline? Also, it might be best to keep using the new one since the device sync is better and these issues should be easier to troubleshoot there
the details screenshot with photos are from non beta timeline
I since have move to beta timeline and only using it
(using beta timeline details screen is empty)
sorry if i’m not clear, although I have an IT background, my english is not perfect
I had to to use the old version to do most of the bulk backup because I add a bug on the mobile app that forced me to close and restart the app for the backups to continue (it has since been fixed I saw in a Github issue)
I'm curious to see the upload details being empty in the new timeline, although, it makes sense as the assets are actually on your device trash. But those should not be included in the remaining count as well. I'll wait for you to test removing them / uploading them through airdrop, if that isn't working as well, we can try something else
Much better :

The 7 remaining are a different error, this is not « cannot get ressource » but « Asset not found in library »

If I take the latest log for example, i have 0 photos taken at this date
I’ve checked the other and same thing, can’t find a photo with this name or even date/time
Can you go into the Settings page -> Sync Status -> Tap the local sync button and see if that fixes this issue?
If they are not part of the library, they should be properly updated to the app's local Db during our sync and should not be hashed at all
Almost

-3
never mind

thanks a lot
Are you part of the dev team ?
Although, it is weird that these are not properly updated during the regular delta sync process :monkaHmm:
And I can’t understand from where they come from
These might've been the assets that were previously on your device and then got deleted. Maybe the switching between the timelines resulted in the app losing out the deletes which resulted in it having stale data
I can’t remember deleting photos recently but perhaps my wife, anyway thanks a lot for your swift help
How can I mark this as solved ?
