Ente photos 'phoning home'

I have a small self hosted instance with a few users (family members). Recently a few of my family members got marketing emails from Ente. As far as I know, they've only signed up to my self-hosted instance. Does ente photos transmit email addresses back to a server or anything for marketing/news purposes? Thought I'd ask as curious - but I'm assuming not, and that at some point they signed up to an account on the official instance by mistake...

Ente Photos uses end-to-end encryption, meaning Ente's servers cannot access your unencrypted data. Your files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded, and only you have the keys to decrypt them. For technical details, see the architecture document at https://ente.io/architecture. Ente Auth collects no data by default, as noted in the privacy policy at https://ente.io/privacy. You can create an account with any email address, as long as you have access to the inbox for verification. Your email address is the primary way for friends and family to discover and share photos with you through shared albums and other social features. More information on account creation can be found at https://help.ente.io/photos/getting-started/signup. -# If your issue is resolved, feel free to use the /solved command to close this thread. Aware this is a bot but end-to-end encryption is irrelevant in this case because emails aren't e2e because the museum needs to use them

Likely they created an account on accident when they downloaded the app
