Unsure how to upgrade on Synology DS224+ in Docker - Noob Question

I'm very new to upgrading Immich, to the degree that I haven't done this before, and am not sure how to effect the upgrade beyond modifying the .env file per https://docs.immich.app/install/upgrading/. I did change the .env file as directed, but have no clue how to run the command (in the same link) to get to upgrade.

I'm on Windows 11 Pro for my PC, DSM 7.3 for the DS224+ if those make a difference.

I forgot to mention, I have 6GB RAM (all Synology), btfrs file system, WD Red Plus 8TB disks. Immich server is 2.0.1, 2.1.0 app on my Pixel 8 Pro.

I tried stopping the container, cleaning it and then rebuild it, but it still gets the same version as before. Even though I have immich-version:release in my yml

I wrote my quick documentation in german and translated it using deepl, so i hope the button names in your synology are the same haha. LMK if you want my german instructions
But here we go:

To upgrade:

Create a backup, always a good idea.

Open Container Manager.
Project -> Immich Double-click, Stop in the top right corner.
Once stopped, clean up in the top right corner.
Once cleaned up, click on “Remove unused images” under Image.
Once removed: Open Project Immich, click on Create in the top right corner.
It will then pull the latest releases.
Wait a moment, and you're done.

After following your instructions, immich is still telling me that I am running 2.0.1. I'm pretty sure I've got everything setup correctly, I just can't quite grasp what I've done wrong.

I think I may have just discovered what i did wrong; I think I needed to update my yml to the 2.1.0 yml file. If that's what I did wrong, I'll know in a minute or so, I'll feel really stupid.

Yes you need to do that. Or put in ${IMMICH_VERSION:-release}, so it pulls the newest version

I figured out what my issue was. The issue was that I didn't have a # in front of the IMMICH_VERSION:release in the .env file. Once it read #immich_VERSION:release, I was good on the upgrade.

Tempest is correct that the line should not need this. I'll admit I was throwing feces at the wall, to see what stuck, in order to get the upgrade to work.
