Fork template from existing template?

I have the link for a pod template.
I’d like to make some simple changes to it, such as pre-attach a network storage, set a default GPU type etc and have it show up in “My templates”. How can I do this?

as far as i can tell you need to learn docker and create the new image yourself and make your own template using the original one as a guide (should have a github so use that and the dockerhub repository to get started) and then make your own template that points to your image. that's what i ended up doing. LLMs can help you a great deal

That’s...convoluted, no? Ideally, this should be a feature on the platform, IMHO.

just re-reading your initial post, templates are independent of and applied after network storage and GPU type are selected so templates as they're used on runpod wouldn't be what you're looking for

Ok, another question: are template URLs permanent? For example: https://console.runpod.io/deploy?template=<templateID> —would this remain the same? I have a ComfyUI template with a bunch of nodes and models, which I just want as a standard starting point for different projects. But I have to go to this URL to load the template, I just want to be able to save the config in a more deterministic way.
