Error when (un)installing mods (Linux Server, SMM)
I've had several errors, but after starting over, this is where I am. I confirmed the directory does indeed exist.

Your profile's lockfile has somehow became corrupted. Delete the
something-lock.json file with your profile's name from your game install directory.

You should shut down the dedicated server executable before trying to install mods on it.
The delete advice is ineffective apparently, as I've done this twice now to no avail
seems like something is causing the profile to keep getting corrupted. try connecting to the server with an SFTP client and deleting everything in the mods folder, then trying again?
I have done so. For additional info, usually the mod's folder appears in the Mods folder on the server, but not always
I do have poor internet, is that a possible factor? (50 Mbps)
Well, to be clear, I used the AMP Panel instead of an SFTP client for the delete, but it's never given me trouble before
Ahh, yeah. Thx. It was beginning to feel like it was some kind of permission issue
Even though i have full access to the instance
Hope some of the many people here who've been having trouble with AMP have been posting about it on their support, because it seems to be causing a lot of issues lately
Yeah, I don't even know how the find crashlogs now, I've been trying to manually add mods bc of the AMP issues
unfortunately manual installation isn't supported
It's crashing and I'm 90% sure i hve only dedi-compatible mods, but idk for sre bc it's odd to check in SMM
If i sent an exported mod list, could someone check that?
do you not have access to the machine AMP is running on?
And I was hoping for an exception since SMM isn't working with AMP but i also understand
It's my friend's machine, I just have access to the instance, not the whole machine
Technically, SMM is working fine - AMP isn't providing enough access for it to function. They need to fix it, really
I can pas on info, but I saw that root was a possible solution but it's not recommended, and I doubt I'd get it
adding a separate sftp server is probably the best way to go
(beyond getting AMP to fix their shit)
Like, separate from the Satisfactory Instance?
with manual installation, the second mod updates come out you've got a whole problem all over again...
A separate SFTP server application to provide access to the directory of the AMP satisfactory install
I just sent a SS of this part of the convo and asked if he could do that
This doesn't even seem to be an option

you would have to install it directly on the server, not through AMP
We even check for regular FTP, but I doubted that one and it wasn't either an option
oh
have you been using AMP for modded satisfactory for a long time, by the way?
we only started getting reports of issues a week or two back so I'm wondering if they released an update which broke everything
If that is the case, you may be able to roll back to a previous version of AMP
It is def weird. Bc filezilla has no issues, but SMM does. Which suggests it's SMM's fault...BUT it's also just AMP that SMM has issues with, which suggests it's AMP's fault....all very odd
some opposite of synergy is happening lol
FileZilla can be quite permissive with malformed ftp responses I believe
so it might be that AMP's sftp is providing bad responses which smm (correctly) says "that's nonsense" whereas FileZilla says "I don't care about this" and just continues
but the fact someone reported AMP working fine with SMM if installed as root suggests it's not even the FTP, it's AMP's file writing permissions somehow
Maybe, but it's working either way....I wis i could manage a virtual linux install, bc we got our server working locally, but that's windows, so just moving everything over didn't work (I think we had windows versions of mods or smt)....then I'm having other issues with simply connecting to the server which is another topic for another place
True
It's only a server I'll be playing on, It's not even technically my server lol
It's a lot of stuff going wrong, esp. considering that lol
I'm just the "techie friend" lol
someone else having problems yesterday was gonna start talking to AMP on their discord server, if I hear back from them I'll try and remember to let you know
thank you, i much appreciate it. I have a help thread there but just other users have responded so far
But I'm not the actual customer so maybe they will have more luck
yeah I checked their forums and they seem, uh, not bursting with responses from devs
This is one reason I hate money.... I'm not paying you and I get help...they are getting paid and not very helpful lol
So thank you
The main dev noted a few days ago on discord that the upstream vendor that supplies the SFTP plugin that AMP has acknowledged the issue and will be issuing a patch soon
Good to hear, thanks for the update
Sweet, do you know if the status of that issue is being tracked anywhere public?
(they left the server)
Welp, thanks discord mobile...
i still have some amp issue's but a direct ftp account or sftp account aaround amp would solf it you say ? [ i have full access to the server btw]
Yep
