Transcoding New Video on Old Hardware

I'm having an issue with hardware accelerated transcoding constantly falling back to CPU which we know takes forever and is super innefficient. My question is I guess whether maybe it's my own fault for using a GTX1060 6GB as my primary GPU for Immich while insisting on shooting 4k HDR 60fps videos on my iPhone 16 Pro Max? Is the video I'm shooting just too much for the 1060 to handle via NVENC, am I just missing something, or is there a known bug I haven't been able to find through searches? It's getting frustrating, all the machine learning stuff works perfectly well but transcoding fails the majority of the time. It initializes NVENC successfully, but then immediately hits a SIGSEGV fault.
One thing I thought was a bit odd though is that Immich indiacates in the logs that it's using the Jellyfin specific FFMPEG on transcode attempts, I don't know if this is normal or just a consequence of running Jellyfin on bare metal on the same machine...
