Question : Why storage is wider than normal
Hi,
I have a question :
For the contexte. Previously I backup all my album into a SMB share on my NAS.
On my NAS this is take 70 GB
When I migrate on Immich, when it's fully backup and sync. When I go in the statics on the administration page, I see it's take 170 GiB!!!
I can understand that some data it's for thumbnail and video transcoding, but man... 100 GB more than original files!
Can someone explain?

On my NAS

On Immich...

have you checked how much space video transcoding is taking?
if you have a lot of videos and depending on your settings, it can easily take more than double
Only 36GB

Do you think i can create a issue on GitHub for this ?
No, I don’t think we have any evidence of a bug yet
I think you need to calculate more accurate space usage on the server, not using an android app
It’s very likely the server is correct in the space used
Okay let me do that, but it's gonna be the same
Raw storage
You’re not really sharing enough details with these tiny screenshots
You should show size of all immich sub folders, etc and compare number of files and other things
A lot of the research here will be up to you as this is on your system
Immich Storage

And the 87 GB is the raw storage

This helps , and what’s in the library folder?
my user

And my files

Ok so you have uploaded 172GB of files
OKAY
NEVERMIND
I'M FUCKING STUPID
I'm glad i didn't open a issue on github
sorry for wasting your time
🙏
