hosting local server in linux
whenever i host a local server and try to connect
, it stucks on
"connecting to
(my ip address
)
" and nothing else happening

thats because you arent meant to connect to your own servers public ip address from the same ip address

if it doesnt work for your friend to connect
, then it means you havnt port forwarded the servers port in your router
. or a firewall is blocking it

or if your ISP uses what is called
"CG
-NAT
"
, that doesnt allow port forwarding and will requiring calling the ISP to opt out of CG

solved because my big brain had another firewall app running that wasnt accepting connections
