Unable to share photos to iOS app via share in Photos app

Hi there. New user. I have Immich setup in Docker, managed by Portainer, on a Debian 12 VM virtualized on Proxmox 8. I have mounted my SMB share for storage, and a local directory for database and have set things up just fine. I've also set up the service behind my Caddy reverse proxy, which is accessible just fine. I was able to upload images on Chrome just fine.
I am unable to share files to the Immich app on iOS, though. I want to upload a few photos for testing, and I've selected them in iOS and "shared" them to the Immich app. They show up in the "staging" screen, at which point I press upload and they immediately error out. These images haven't been offloaded to Apple Cloud, they're the most recent pics on my phone.
When I enable backup of a small album on iOS, it does work fine. So not sure if this is a me issue, a known bug, or a misconfiguration. This wasn't working when signed in via direct local IP, nor through the reverse proxy domain. Is there another way to upload a few pictures to my Immich library?
