Purpose of network mode in react query, can it be used for PWA?

Hello, I just came across the network mode while reading the docs, just wondering if it can be useful for a Progressive Web App? Can someone just give me an overview of what network mode is and what it does pls. I will be reading the docs more in depth as soon as I'm in this section... I'm just getting started wtih react query
