Relation foreign key nested in jsonb attribute

Hi !

We have an attribute which is stored in a postgresql jsonb column.

In this attribute, a foreign key to another resource is stored.

I would love to declare a

belongs_to

belongs_to

relationship based on this nested foreign_key…

Ideally, I could do something like that:

belongs_to :foreign, ForeignResource  do
  source_attribute fragment("('meta->>'foreign_id')::int")
end

belongs_to :foreign, ForeignResource  do
  source_attribute fragment("('meta->>'foreign_id')::int")
end

But the doc states that

source_attribute

source_attribute

must be an atom.

If someone have something that could work this way, I would be very glad!

If not, I guess I will load the relation through a calculation
