Exif data missing on download

Hi! I've been trying to move my photos from google photos to immich. To do that, I downloaded albums using google takout, then used immich-go to upload them to immich. So far, so good. On immich, the photos appear with the correct date and time and are sorted perfectly. However, my issue is that when I download them to my desktop again, they don't all have the exif data displaying correctly. for some, the exif data is there, for others, it isn't. i don't understand why that's the case since on immich they're displayed correctly. is there something i'm doing wrong/i should be doing different?
